Support our Petition to Increase Opportunities for Small Business to Win Federal Contracts

Posted by Robert Kelly on Sep 23, 2011 5:23:00 PM

TurboGSA has petitioned the President of the United States to increase opportunities for small businesses to win Federal contracts by raising the Simplified Acquisitions ceiling to $500,000.  This petition was filed on the White House’s new “We the People” website.  This petition requires 5,000 votes for it to be considered by the White House.  Your support would be greatly appreciated. If a petition gets  enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response. You can view the petition by visiting the White House site here: http://wh.gov/gA3

The petition is intended to increase opportunities for small businesses to win government contracts by increasing the general threshold on Simplified Acquisition procedures to $500,000, from the current $150,000.  Doing so will:

  • Vastly increase opportunities for small businesses to obtain government contracts
  • Result in many new jobs for American workers
  • Save the government money

Small businesses tend to have more competitive rates and this change will save government money. Government agencies struggle to meet the current mandate of awarding 23% of government contract dollars to small businesses, so this change will enable agencies to more easily achieve this goal.

Again, if this petition gets  enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response and hopefully, will lead to more opportunities for small businesses to win government contracts.

Please encourage your colleagues to support this, by emailing this web site to them, placing this on facebook, and tweeting it. http://wh.gov/gA3
