GSA has been marketing its GSA Schedules program to state and local governments for several years now and continues to see increased usage by the SLED market (State, Local, Educational).

GSA Promotes Cooperative Purchasing as a Time and Money Saver

GSA-cooperative-purchasingThe Cooperative Purchasing Program allows state, local and tribal governments to benefit from pre-approved vendors when purchasing information technology products and services as well as fire, security and law enforcement products and services. This program allows eligible entities to purchase from Cooperative Purchasing approved vendors, at any time, for any reason, using any funds available.  

GSA Schedule contracts open to use by state and local governments under Cooperative Purchasing, include:

  • GSA Schedule 70 is the largest and most widely-used contract vehicle in the federal government. It features a wide variety of information technology products and services including automated data processing equipment (firmware), software, cloud computing services, hardware, support equipment, and professional services.
  • GSA Schedule 84 is used for the purchase of security and law enforcement equipment.  It features alarm and signal systems, facility management systems, firefighting and rescue equipment, law enforcement and security equipment, marine craft and related equipment, special purpose clothing, and related services. 

GSA Marketing to State and Local Agencies

Participation in the Cooperative Purchasing Program is voluntary so GSA is marketing to those agencies actively.  The following are the key value proposition elements tah GSA IT state and Schedule 84 vendors should reinforce when talking to state and local agencies.

Eligible state and local entities are able to purchase from participating Cooperative Purchasing contractors, at any time, for any reason, using any funds available.
