GETTING ON THE GSA SCHEDULE
The GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) is organized into 12 large categories, and each category is divided into subcategories and Special Item Numbers (SINs). Your products or services must fit within the scope of at least one SIN before GSA can award you a MAS contract.
Since the 2019 to 2020 consolidation of the legacy numbered schedules (Schedule 70, Schedule 84, 00CORP and many others) into one solicitation, GSA has grouped the MAS into 12 large categories:
facilities maintenance and management, building services, and related products
office, institutional and specialty furniture and furnishings
human resources, training, background investigations, and related workforce services
hardware, tools, cleaning supplies, machinery, and components
IT hardware, software, cloud, cybersecurity, and IT professional services
a mix of items such as apparel, awards, flags, and personal care products
office supplies, equipment, imaging, and document and mail services
management consulting, business administrative services, marketing, and financial consulting
laboratory, testing, and certain medical equipment and related services
protective equipment, security systems, and security personnel services
vehicles, transportation, and package delivery services
travel-related services, including lodging and travel management
Category descriptions are summaries. The controlling scope language for each SIN is in the current MAS solicitation and on GSA’s category pages, so always confirm there before you build an offer around a specific SIN.
Not as a stand-alone MAS large category. Medical equipment and laboratory solutions sit primarily under Scientific Management and Solutions. Separately, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) runs its own Federal Supply Schedule program for many medical and pharmaceutical items, which is administered under different terms. If your business sells medical products, confirm which program covers your items before you invest in an offer.
Think of the large category as the aisle in a store and the SIN as the shelf. The category tells you the general territory. The SIN tells GSA exactly what you are allowed to sell, what evaluation criteria apply, and, for many SINs, what supporting documentation your offer needs.
You can list your offerings under more than one SIN, and even under more than one category, as long as your offer supports each one. For a deeper walk-through of SIN selection, see GSA MAS Schedule Categories, SINs and How to Get Listed.
References to Schedule 70, Schedule 36, 00CORP and similar legacy names still appear in older contracts, vendor websites, and buyer conversations. Those schedules were folded into the MAS. Contracts awarded under them were migrated, and new offers are submitted under the single MAS solicitation, 47QSMD20R0001. If you see a vendor pitching a “Schedule 70 application,” treat that as a sign the material is out of date.

Answers to common questions about GSA MAS categories and SINs.
Twelve. They are Facilities, Furniture and Furnishings, Human Capital, Industrial Products and Services, Information Technology, Miscellaneous, Office Management, Professional Services, Scientific Management and Solutions, Security and Protection, Transportation and Logistics Services, and Travel.
Yes. Many firms hold SINs across categories, for example IT services alongside training. Each SIN must be supported by the offer, so the more SINs you add, the more documentation you should expect to provide.
GSA eLibrary and GSA’s MAS category pages list current SINs, and the MAS solicitation carries the controlling scope language. Categories and SINs change as GSA issues solicitation refreshes, so check the current version rather than relying on an older list.
No. A category or SIN fit is only the starting point. GSA still evaluates responsibility, past performance or commercial experience, and pricing before it makes an award.
