Update on the New SBA WOSB Contracting Program

SBA will be holding a web chat session on March 31, 2011 at 1:00 pm (ET).  This session provides small businesses with an opportunity to discuss the new Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) federal contract program.  This program is designed to attract more woman owned small businesses into federal contracting.

As we discussed in earlier articles, the WOSB  program will offer certified WOSB's with set-aside contract opportunities.  Similar programs (8-A) provided enormous benefits to small disadvantaged businesses and this program should be a boon to certified WOBS's.

SBA beleives the first contracts under this program will be awarded in the 4th quarter of fiscal year 2011 (july-September), so it's time to get in on this contracting initiative.  The largest percent of federal contracts are awarded in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, so this should be a significant contracting opportunity
